Plane crash in Uttara: All halls including Star Cineplex were closed
The entire country was in mourning on Tuesday (July 22) after an Air Force training aircraft crashed at Milestone School and College in Uttara, the capital, claiming the lives of people.
Yesterday, the interim government declared today as a national day of mourning. This information was given in a message sent by the Press Wing of the Chief Advisor. As part of the mourning, the national flag was kept at half-mast in all government, semi-government, autonomous institutions and educational institutions of the country on Tuesday. Similarly, the national flag was also flown at half-mast in all government and private buildings of the country and Bangladesh missions abroad. All cinema halls and multiplexes in the country were closed on Tuesday as part of the national mourning. Interim government health advisor Nurjahan Begum told reporters on Tuesday when she visited the injured at the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute that 29 people have died so far in the incident. However, earlier, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that a total of 31 people were killed and 165 injured in the crash of an Air Force fighter jet into the Milestone School and College building as of 12 noon on Tuesday. The number of injured is about two hundred.

In a statement issued by the association on Monday night, it was said that as part of expressing solidarity with the national mourning, all single screens and multiplexes across the country have been called to close cinema screenings on July 22.
Responding to this call, the country’s major cinema chains also closed their operations. The Star Cineplex authorities said in a statement, “We are deeply saddened by the accident that occurred at Milestone School. We pray for the forgiveness of the souls of the deceased and wish the injured a speedy recovery. As part of the national mourning, Star Cineplex has closed all its branches and operations today (Tuesday).
A visit to various areas of the capital showed that Star Cineplex in Bashundhara City, Simanto Sambhar, Bailey Road, Mirpur and other theaters were also locked. Movie lovers also supported this decision on social media. Stars of this arena have given messages.
Star Cineplex authorities have said that movie screenings will resume in all branches from tomorrow, Wednesday (July 23) as per the previously announced schedule.
